Stonefield Sheep in Northeastern New Mexico

Naturally Grown Lamb and Resilient Sheep from the North-Eastern Highlands of New Mexico

Locker Lambs

We will have lambs for sale April through October 2008. Let us know if you want a 2008 lamb by contacting us at inquiry@stonefieldsheep.com

We sell naturally raised lamb for slaughter to the local market. Our lambs range freely on the farm. They consume grass and their mothers' milk. When grass is short they are fed grass hay and vegetable protein supplements. The lambs receive sheep mineral and Covexin8 vaccinations.

The lambs are sold at about 5 months when they weigh around 80 lb. We sell live lamb. We will take the lamb to a slaughter house for the customer; however, the customer is responsible for processing and the cost. We sell the lamb for $1.50/lb live weight. Processing adds another $70 to the lamb price. A 80 lb lamb will dress out to about 40 lb.

The lambs have developed a good reputation. Our lamb was well received at a local French/Italian restaurant. The chef has not only served the lamb to his customers but has given it as gifts to friends and family. We committed to supplying lamb to the Santa Fe restaurant market in 2006 but will still have lamb for sale to our local customers.
